NOT ALL VACCINES OR VACCINATION PROTOCOLS ARE CREATED EQUALLY
Many veterinary colleges have recently restructured their vaccination policies. Using the latest information and the availability of new innovative vaccines, we are constantly updating our vaccination protocol. We are using core vaccines in puppies and kittens. For adult dogs and cats (over 2 years of age) we recommend many vaccines be boosted now only on a three year schedule. We try to immunize for individual diseases and not use multivalient vaccines. We have introduced new gene recomb- inant vaccines that do not have adjuvants (like aluminum) previously used to stimulate immunity, as they may be associated with vaccination induced tumors. We are using some non-injectable vaccines that are administered intranasally, and now we have introduced new transdermal needleless vaccines. Some of these newer innovations have increased the costs of immunizing pets, but they are safer. If you shop for vaccinations just on price alone you may not be offered the latest technology. We try to use the best and our vaccines are still priced fairly. We strongly believe annual examinations are needed, and we realize vaccinations are an important part of your pet’s health program. Obviously, an exam is of crucial importance for elderly pets or pets with a known history of illness. Call us to make an appointment for an examination or vaccination.
